Let’s be honest, a lot of your marketing looks busy without actually doing much.
A business gets a website. Then some social posts. Then maybe some ads. Maybe a CRM gets tossed in there somewhere. Everybody feels productive, but somehow your leads still slip through the cracks, follow-up is inconsistent, and the whole thing feels like a shopping cart with one bad wheel.
That gap, the messy space between “we’re doing marketing” and “this is actually working,” is where I tend to live.
I’m Chad Ruiz, a marketing strategist based in Louisiana, and I love building marketing systems that help your business turn attention into real conversations and customers. Not fluff. Not vanity. Not reports full of numbers nobody cares about. I mean the real stuff, more inquiries, better follow-up, clearer messaging, and a smoother path from curious visitor to paying client.
Because most businesses don’t have a traffic problem (ok, maybe some have a traffic problem too).
They mostly need more conversions, better clarity, better nurturing and follow-up, and oftentimes, all three, which is always a fun little party!
I Study the Whole Marketing Machine
Your website itself isn’t a strategy.
Your CRM by itself isn’t a strategy.
A few blog posts, some Google Ads, and a nice-looking homepage don’t magically turn into growth just because they exist. (How I wish!)
What matters is how all those pieces work together.
That’s how I think. I look at your full system.
When someone lands on your site, do they immediately understand what your business does and why it matters? If they fill out a form, does someone follow up quickly? If they’re not ready yet, is there a nurture process in place? If you’re creating content, is it answering the real questions your prospects are searching for? Is your brand building trust, or just taking up space on the internet?
That is the kind of stuff I care about.
I like fixing broken handoffs, tightening weak messaging, improving follow-up, and building systems that make marketing feel less random and a lot more useful.
What I Mean by a Marketing System
When I say “marketing system,” I don’t mean some giant, complicated monster that requires twelve logins, three meetings, and an operations manual thicker than a church cookbook. Although, if Ms. Betty’s buttermilk biscuits are involved, I might be willing to review that manual!
What I mean is something much simpler, and much more useful.
I mean a practical, intentional setup that helps you consistently get found, capture interest, follow up well, build trust, and move the right people toward action.
That can include your website copy, your landing pages, your forms, your CRM, your email and text nurturing, your appointment reminders, your sales pipeline, and even the content you publish to help people find you in the first place.
But none of that should exist as random pieces floating around out there on their own.
Everything should work together. Everything should be built with intention and point at the same target.
Your message should match your audience. Your pages should guide the next step clearly. Your CRM should support timely, valuable, thoughtful follow-up. Your nurturing should answer questions, reduce hesitation, and build confidence. Your whole system should make it easier for your best prospects to say, “Yep, this feels right.”
This is what I mean by a marketing system.
And when it’s built well, it makes your marketing more effective.
For example, I worked on a private school project where the goal was was to help more of the right parents actually take action and book tours. They had good traffic landing on their pages driven by successful paid ad campaigns, but only about half a percent of those folks actually took the next step and booked a tour. And then, only about half of those leads actually showed for the tours.
So before changing a bunch of random stuff, I went deep on the audience. I looked at what parents cared about, what questions they had, what language would resonate, and where the website experience was creating friction. From there, I helped improve the user experience of the landing page and broader site, updated the messaging so it spoke more clearly to parent priorities, and built out a much stronger CRM system behind the scenes.
That included robust nurturing sequences, pre-tour appointment value-add emails, follow-up flows, and other touchpoints designed to keep families engaged and better prepared before they ever stepped on campus.
The result was not just a prettier website or a cleaner backend.
It helped double traffic conversion rates and improve tour show rates too, because now the full experience, from first click to scheduled tour to follow-up, felt more intentional and more helpful.
That’s the difference.
It’s not just, let’s make your site better, or build more email and SMS campaigns, or invest more money in ad spend.
It’s building a smarter path that compels more of the right people to move forward.
The goal is simple. Make it easier for your best prospects to understand your value, trust your business, and take the next step.
What a Broken Marketing System Looks Like, and What a Better One Does
Here’s an easy way to explain the difference:
What usually goes wrong | What I help improve |
Website messaging is vague or too generic | Clear messaging that quickly shows who you help and why it matters |
Leads fill out a form and wait too long | Faster follow-up through better process and CRM automation |
Content exists but does not answer real questions | SEO and AEO content built around real search intent |
Ads bring traffic but pages do not convert | Better alignment between traffic source, page message, and offer |
Teams rely on sticky notes and memory | Cleaner systems that create consistency and reduce missed opportunities |
Reporting shows activity but not real business impact | Clearer focus on leads, conversations, pipeline movement, and revenue potential |
That table pretty much sums up why I enjoy this work so much. Most businesses already have some of the pieces. They just aren’t connected well enough yet.
Too Many Businesses Are Leaking Opportunities They Already Paid for
This is one of the biggest things I notice.
You spend money or time getting attention. Maybe someone clicks your ad. Maybe they find you on Google. Maybe a friend sends them your way and they check out your website.
That part works.
Then everything after that gets a little weird.
Your message is vague. Your page is cluttered. Your form goes into a black hole. Your follow-up shows up two days later, or not at all. Nobody has a clean system for what happens next. You’re busy. Your team is juggling too much. And good opportunities quietly die in the background.
That stings because those aren’t always bad leads. A lot of times, they’re good leads running into and getting lost in a messy process.
That’s why I focus so much on conversion and follow-up. You don’t always need more traffic. Sometimes you just need to stop losing the people who are already showing interest.
I Like Marketing That Feels Clear, Useful, and Human
A lot of marketing copy sounds cold, impersonal, or just plain boring.
I try to build the opposite.
I want your message to sound clear, engaging, natural, direct, and helpful. Like an actual human sat down, thought about what your customer is worried about, what they want, and what would help them feel good about taking the next step.
That matters because people aren’t looking for more jargon. We all have enough chaos in our life as it is. Your prospects want clarity. They want to feel heard and understood.
They want to know what you do, whether you can help, why they should trust you, and what happens next.
If your marketing doesn’t answer those questions quickly, it starts working a whole lot harder than it should.
CRM Automation Is One of the Easiest Ways to Clean Up the Chaos
I have a soft spot for CRM automation because it solves so many funnel problems.
You know what I mean. Your team is trying to run your business, answer calls, handle client work, put out fires, and somehow still follow up perfectly on every lead. That sounds great in theory. In real life, it usually turns into forgotten callbacks, half-finished pipelines, and a lot of “I thought somebody already got back to them.”
A good CRM system helps bring order to that chaos.
It helps your team respond faster, stay organized, keep leads warm, and create a better experience without relying on memory and luck. It also helps protect your revenue, because every missed follow-up is a missed opportunity.
And no, automation and AI integrations don’t have to sound robotic or weird. When it’s done right, it builds a stronger relationship.
Why I Care About SEO and AEO
Search is changing fast.
People still use Google and Bing and traditional search, of course. But they’re also asking questions inside AI tools and expecting direct answers instead of digging through a pile of links. In fact, most of Google’s search answers today come in the form of an AI conversation.
That means your content has to do more than just exist and contain proper keywords.
It needs to be useful. Structured well. Easy to understand. Focused on real questions. Clear enough for both people and machines to make sense of it.
That’s where SEO and AEO work together.
SEO helps people find you in traditional search engines.
AEO helps your content make sense in answer engines and AI-driven search experiences.
That usually means better headings, clearer organization, stronger question-based content, more conversational, and less bloated filler. It means writing in a way that helps your audience get what they need quickly while also making it easier for search engines and AI platforms to understand what your page is about.
That’s smart communication. That’s the world we live in today.
Why Louisiana Still Matters in How I Work
I’m based in Louisiana, near New Orleans, and I think place shapes perspective more than you realize.
Around here, people can smell fake from a mile away, like a pot of crawfish boiling in the backyard.
You can have the slickest website in the world, but if your messaging feels stiff, vague, or overly polished in that corporate “we help brands unlock scalable excellence” kind of way, people tune out fast.
That’s part of why I like writing and building systems that feel grounded. Clear beats clever. Helpful beats flashy. Real beats over-rehearsed.
That doesn’t mean strategy goes out the window. It just means strategy should still sound like a human being.
What You Usually Want, Beneath All the Marketing Talk
You’re not sitting around saying, “What I really need is a stronger conversion architecture and a more cohesive funnel experience.”
You’re saying things like this instead:
- You need more leads.
- You need better leads.
- You need to stop dropping the ball.
- You need your website to make more sense.
- You need a better follow-up process.
- You need marketing that actually helps your business grow.
That’s my lane.
I like solving those problems in practical ways and making your marketing work better.
